AI + Pharma Scenarios: 4 Things to Do and 1 Not to Do at CphMRA 2024

2024-05-31

Abstract:

After evaluating AI tools and interviewing pharma and medtech partners, MeDomino summarized practical AI + pharma scenario guidance.

Today, AI is no longer an unfamiliar novelty. Even so, AI remains highly popular across fields, and the life sciences industry is no exception. From May 29 to 31, 2024, the 12th China Pharmaceutical Decision Science Summit and CphMRA 2024 Annual Meeting, themed "Artificial Intelligence + Pharma," opened in Nanchang, Jiangxi.

As a pioneer in digital intelligence for the life sciences industry and an old friend of CphMRA, MeDomino was once again invited to attend this year and share how MeDomino uses NICE + AIGC to help pharma and medtech companies achieve digital precision marketing.

Through conversations with many friends in the pharma and medtech industry, we have seen that as individual people, many are willing to actively embrace the changes brought by AI. But when people stand from the perspective of an enterprise, things become much more complicated:

- They need to consider direct returns;

- They need to consider labor, material, financial, and other costs;

- They may also need to consider management, peer departments, and many other factors.

We later realized these were not isolated cases, but common concerns. So, after evaluating multiple AI tools and conducting in-depth interviews with several pharma and medtech partners, we summarized a practical consensus for applying artificial intelligence + pharma across scenarios. At the conference, Lu Wenqing recommended "4 things to do and 1 not to do":

High Business Value: Do It

Start with things that can quickly produce results and quickly let business teams feel the value.

High Fault Tolerance: Do It

Set aside extremely demanding needs first and prioritize things with high fault tolerance.

Broad Applicability: Do It

A robot vacuum can only clean floors; we need to do things with broad applicability.

Upward Management: Do It

If it creates value for your boss's boss, just do it.

Unless the project will replace you.

Repeated Over-Polishing? Do Not Do It

No matter how beautiful a sand sculpture on the beach is, one wave of large-model iteration can wash everything away.

Perhaps after reading this, you are still unsure how to combine AIGC with your business needs, which AI capabilities are suitable for you, or whether you should act rashly.
